I write this to you all, snuggled in a polka dotted robe with the warmth of the fire beating on my back, at complete ease and serenity.

Except for my polka dotted robe is making me extremely hot, the fire is burning the bare flesh off my body so I'm currently all blood cells and muscles, and I have homework/essays/portfolios/university marks/ life to worry about. But still. One thing at a time, right friends? Recently read the quote, "Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it." - Groucho Marx. This is now taped on my mirror and I hope you all have a happy day. Oh, Happy Days! (Am I quoting a movie? I feel like I am. I'll pretend I am. An Indie movie, no less. That will give me "indie cred." Therefore, I am cool.)

Today's creative project. FINALLY GOT TO PHOTOGRAPHING MY COFFEE FILTER DRESS. Procrastination? I think I'll just go with the "Ah, I was waiting for zeee perfect vinterrr day." (That was supposed to mimic a French, ahem Francais, accent, thus successfully giving me that air of "je ne sais quoi." Har har.)

We glitterfied her face. Any relationship to Ke$ha was purely coincidental and do not represent the views of those involved with the project. Rated E for Everyone! (That was supposed to mimic those "Viewer Disclaimer" things. If you didn't get that, then YOU'RE STUPID.)(I'm kidding. That was a joke. It was a defense mechanism for my lack of competence. I AM SORRY.)

Another disclaimer: I AM NOT AN EVIL SISTER I SWEAR. Sibling insisted she could go outside. Repeat, INSISTED. How's that for Canada, eh?

I've been seeing a lot of pine trees outside of peoples' homes. It makes me sad. I feel like these poor trees were bread for just one purpose and, as soon as their purpose was served, BAM THEY'RE GONE. I'm sure that this could transcend itself into some life analogy, but that's not somewhere I want to venture towards. In conclusion, heinous, plastic Christmas trees FTW!

Hope you all enjoyed these Brrrreathtaking photos! (Brrreathtaking because "HOLY MOLY IT'S COLD OUTSIDE. My breath is being taken away by Brrrs" not because they're, you know, "Breathtaking." There's a differrrrrence.) (The excessive rs = a failed attempt at emphasizing coldness.) Certainly a nice life break to take some photos. By "some" I really mean "300+" but, you know, same thing.

Sorry that comment responsiveness is on the low-down, hoe-down. Life is busy. But exciting. But busy, WOAH.
How are you all? If you could be an animal, what would it be?
(Life altering question, as per usual. I'm desperate to have you all RELEASE YOUR INNER BEAST. (like inner animal.) (like... never mind. Have a good day, my beasts xxx))

Friends, friends, friends. We need to talk. HEY WHAT'S UP?! HOW'S LIFE?! DID YOU EVER HAVE A GUINEA PIG?! Yadda, yadda, yay. Sorry, this scattered conversation is supposed to mimic the scattered-ness of my life. Fortunately, I'm gallivanting/ Model UN-ing in Montreal this weekend, so this shall act as a good escape. I need an escape.

Also, I need more time. And more outfit pictures. These aren't outfit pictures or, more accurately, what is traditionally labeled as "outfit pictures." Unconventional not-so outfit pictures perhaps? Perhaps, but likely not. Nonetheless, enjoy these pictures of the sibling in a tulle dress I made over a year ago and photographed this summer and NEVER POSTED. Gasp at my tardiness on everything that could be deemed tardy! I'm not making sense... (Actually, I did post this dress once, kind of, way back in the good ole days. Awesome points if someone can resurrect said post?)

Enjoy my dumplings. I never call you dumplings. Cherish this moment, please. What has been sparking your creativity lately? Send me links of inspiration, dumplings. (Again?! Oh my! Cherish!)

P.S. If you looked at those rosettes and thought to yourself, "Well, hey now, making rosettes could be dandy!" then you win the 50 million dollar lottery. Well, not really, but pretty darn close.
P.P.S. I don't understand why lotteries are so high. (In terms of monetary values, that is.) I think it'd be much wiser to distribute $50 million dollars among 2 people, or 5 people, or 50 people, or 200 people. OH YOU, WORLD. So silly.

my grandma is the bestest!

There's a few ways in which you can tell if you are situated on the oh so daunting BOTTOM OF THE SOCIAL PYRAMID (ie "Hi friends! Oh wait, I don't have friends!")...
1) If you consider your boogers your BFFS.
2) If you floss your teeth with your toenails.
3) If you stage fake photoshoots like some wannabe big shot

Fortunately, only one of the above signs has been proven true. It's true; floss has become far too inconvenient. Why floss and create waste when you can simply utilize the natural resource that's at your disposal? (I'm only kidding. Half kidding. No, fully kidding.) But, at last, I guess the faux photoshoot is a testament of my lack of friends and - ahem, I'M SO COOL.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Not really sure what the theme was, but something along the lines of "WWLISYW?" (What Would Lexy In Sixty Years Wear?), so I guess it amounts to something along the lines of effortless-old-grandma-meets-cool-new-grandma-meets-explosion-of-colours-here-and-there. In more "fashion-y" terms, it was intended have a dark palette with pops of unexpected colours, coupled with clashing prints and textures. Aw yeah!

Look 1: Playing with polka dots. I bought this skirt intending to chop 'er off, but now my sister has a weird attachment to it and, quite frankly, chopping it up could be concerning. (By "my sister," I may actually be referring to myself...)

Hope you enjoyed!

*I really DO have friends. I don't know why I make continuous friend-less jokes. Maybe Seventeen should cover this. "You aren't confident with yourself! This is so normal! You DO have friends and you need a girls night out with lots of Zac Attack Efron! This is actually a secret sign that you love eating too many cheesies and you're an alien..."

Dear Canada, I'm sorry I didn't do anything to celebrate your birthday. If it makes you feel better, I didn't do anything for mine... P.S. i luvz u.

So. It's pretty official. Whenever someone views my blog over the next day or two (until I update again) they will see that
1) My sister is the only one on this silly home page (can I get an "oh, haiiii gurl"?)
2) I apparently only make and dress and breathe and eat and sleep and snore and snort (okay, maybe just make and dress) pastels.
Consequently, this may lead you to believe that some android has taken over this blog from a galaxy far, far away. Therefore, to clear any rumors that may be circling around the world wide web HI GUYS IT'S STILL ME. Phew! Just to sort that out. (Pretty media saavy here, dealing with these wild rumors before they get outta hand. Ohhh, to be a public figure.)

*er, AND ONTO THE ACTUAL POST*

Hi guys! Exciting post! I think! If you exclaimation marks, maybe you'll think it's super! duper! awesome! YAY! Anyways! I'll walk you through what I like to describe as "the accumulation of a few hours of summer boredom." Aw yeah, I just quoted myself.

Project #xx
a step-by-step exclusive view

1. INSPIRATION. Okay, I will admit that I kind of wish I had this cool mood board with a variety of exotic and culturally-sounding pieces of reference (ex. "ah, yes, the seafoam green was inspired from the images that I sourced from a Bulgarian magazine from the 1920s, in which..."). However, this hardcore GRANDMA* sweater inspired me, as I wanted to find a way to embellish it. (aka, boring grandma, not cool grandma sweater)

* And by "Grandma Sweater," it REALLY IS a grandma sweater! My Grandma got it as a gift and didn't like it and gave it to me! (...hm, what does that say about my style? Likes grandma sweaters that grandmas don't even like, check)

2. PROCESS. Found a pile of old fabrics that would go well with the sweater. Also decided not to actually sew ONTO the sweater, but make accessories to go with it.

3. FINAL PRODUCT! Took pictures on the whim. Because we have nothing better to do. And I wish I was kidding about that one. But I'm not. Therefore, expect more pictures of other things. Enjoy!

Frosted: a mini collection of accessories
I called it "Frosted" because I thought it personified the underlying intentions of the pieces in that they were, um, OH SCREW THAT. I wanted to name it because it makes me seem like a professional so SHEESH.

b) Broach

Yayyyyy!
I had fun making these and hopefully you'll see more of it on the blog! Yo.
(I added the "yo" because I sound slightly pretentious. So it was to detract from the pretentious-ness.(?))

4?. REPEAT. Kind of. I mean, I WANT TO EMBELLISH THIS SKIRT NOW! A fantastic fake silk pink skirt that's a little, well, I've worn it once. But I like it. One of the first pieces I'd evahh thrifted. SHOUT OUTZ TO SWELL VINTAGE/ THRIFT SHOPS IN VANCOUVER! yeeee. But still, I'm in an embellishing (slash needtodostuffinmyfreetime) mood!

Closer look of things on my flickr. Yeah, I made a flickr. I'm pretty much on every social networking website thing out there. (Shameless self promotion: CHECK ME OUT here, here, here, here, et cetera.) If you're super keen, you can have an EARLY LOOK at the layout for the forest nymph shoot here. Will post them on my blog soon... but KEENERS I'm looking at you! Rep-rep-represennnnt.

█ ♥ █ Have a good day! █ ♥ █
(Happy Canada's day my Canadian bloggers! What did you do? I sang Kumbya and lit fireworks. Kidding. I didn't do anything. I did SO little that pretending that I sung Kumbya makes me feel cool. Oh snap.)

P.S. QUESTION: Do you guys want to me to post a tutorial on how to make the rosettes? (flower shape thing in the pieces.)

They're supa easy and supa fun! supa dupa! supa dupa! fo realz. I think I will! I mean, if you want...

As I've described, summer thus far has been rather, well, laaaazzy. (Exaggerated letters is a meager attempt at personifying such laziness.) (But, hey, I went outside today! For a haircut! And I'm outside right now! Non-lazy points for me! Booo yeah!) But I've actually accomplished quite a few little projects here and there which will slowly trickle onto da blog for your viewing pleasure (brain freeze... where does the term "viewing pleasure" show up a lot? T.V. Shows? It really urks me when I say a term or quote something and I can't recall where it came from. HO HUM SOMETHING TO PONDER.) . One of these "little projects" includes a RIDICULOUS AMOUNT OF PHOTOSHOOTS with my sister. It's really hilarious. We look like such narcissists to the naked eye. I'd be scared of us. If I weren't, you know, us.

Er... Anyways! Before I show you some of the new things - another summer goal: photograph as many things I've sewn as I can - here's the final installation of our "forest nymph" shoot. Hope you enjoy!

I'm a little over the "soft meets hard" look but, whatever, I'm a hypocrite and I present you the princess/rock look. (Aw yeah for hypocrisy!) On a sort of related note, I LOVE long gloves and I'm still on the hunt for the perfect white ones. (Find some? Send them to me? Love you? Love you.)

Last set of photos. And, dundundundunnnn (it's supposed to be humming in a happy-suspense-with-the-final-sound-going-up, as opposed to humming in a scary-suspense-with-the-final-sound-going-down) as promised the fabulous Rodarte dress! I think that's all I need to say, really...

Shaky effect was due to the weather going down, but I kind of like it. It reminds me of X-RAYS or ULTRASOUNDS. You probably thought that too. Obviously. (Okay FINE, it's kind of a weird thought. But THINK ABOUT IT.)

Ta-da! ALL DONE! HAH. Just kidding! Kind of! I'll post the FINAL product in a day or two. "Final Product" includes the layout and jazz. It's pretty pyscedelic. So stay tuned! (Stay tuned? Really, Lexy? REALLY?)

(Speaking of weird, what's up with Taylor Momsen? Just ew.)
(Speaking of weird, what's up with the weather? Wonky weather leads to descreased in creative dressing, leading to decrease in outfit posts. WAIT DON'T FRET. There will be one soon! Very soon!)

Weeeerooohhh weeerohhhh. (Those are supposed to be sirens. Question: how would YOU type out the sound of sirens? Quite a difficult feat, you must admit.) Yeah. Sirens = Warning = IMAGE HEAVY POST.

Ah, yes. More photos from the batch... Enjoy! (I sincerely hope that these don't freeze up your computer, thus making the "enjoy" part quite the contrary. In that it'd be unenjoyable. Like, you know, when you're on a Mac and than that silly spinning colourful circle thing STARTS SPINNING LIKE CRAZY?!! Gah. Yeah. Hope that's not happenin'.)

Outfit One:
(model - sister, styling/ photography - me)
Love this look. This dress is so fabulously awesome with pools of ruffles enveloping the neck. I haven't actually had a chance to wear it as, pffffft, I'm just too cool to be invited to fancy gatherings and jazz. But, you know, when the MET's calling my name, this will maybe be the dress I'd wear... I'm thinking about hemming the bottom so it's more wearable, but there's something quintessential about it's current length. OH SIGH DEBATES EH.

One more batch to come so I guess it's good cuz 1) if you like 'em, hey there's more! or 2) if you don't like 'em, then hey there's only one more! YOUR CHOICE. It's kind of like seeing the glass as half empty or half full. Except for not really.

Right now, the glass is kind of looking half full because I'm almost at a place of utter contentment as EXAMINATION ARE DONE IN ONE WEEK TOMORROW. Woot, woot.

But, with that said, i have a week full of exams. but i'll try to post. In the mean time, ARE THERE ANY EUROPEAN BLOGGERS OUT THERE?! Any one to snail mail me this magazine?! I reckon (Eurpean slang, guys!) that it's much cheaper there than the $25 which, quite frankly, is a little much considering it's more than the cost of my entire outfit... :) I will seriously love you forever and always.

:)
