roses are red, violets are blue, i'm neutral about valentine's day, but i love my new shoes!

Snookums,

I know I've only known you for a week... but what can I say? I'm smitten. I have to admit, when I first saw you, I rolled my eyes a little. I chuckled a little. You were bizarre, you stood out... I couldn't help but make fun of you. But hey! Unlike the others, walking by you, ignoring you, I had decency. I gave you a chance. I got to know you. And look at us now. Together. A future.

Baby, it's been seven days. I only bought you because you were 50% off and fairly entertaining to stare at. You were fat and I gave you a chance as jokes. But I'm so glad I did. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me (not really). I hope we have a long future together.

Do I dare utter the words? Those forbidden, dangerous words? I love you.

XOXO,
Lexy

I hope you all have a marvelous Valentine's Day. Whether you're blinking your eyelashes at a boytoy or writing deep love letters to, uh, inanimate objects, I hope your day is filled with love and chocolate and generic cards with creepy looking animals . Or, you know, it's just like any other day with a bit of pink and barf-inducing sights evolved from the consumerism of today's society. You know, whatever floats your chocolate fountain (hah. chocolate and, therefore, valentine's reference).

Describe your dream luvuhhhh. (that's slang for "lover." lolsneaky.)

Festive outfit post soon! (by "festive," I mean, "yes, I did wear yellow tights and clonky shoes today for Valentine's day so, you know, don't get too hyped up on wishful cupcake attire")

NOTHING RHYMES WITH ORANGE (that includes PORRIDGE, 10-year-old Lexy...)

I'm home, I'm home, I'm home! An eventful and fun and equally exhausting time spent with the extended famjam has resulted in an exhausted Lexy (hint: there were babies involved) (no, I am not subtly telling you I'm pregnant.) (grrr you, 16 and Pregnant and your ridiculous implications). But being home equals more posts! (At least in theory....) But, orange you glad?

Oh, and apparently I've decided to take onto being very arrogant/ narcissistic. Or I'm being overly-enthusiastic. Ahem, um, obviously not the latter. Obviously I'm a very nonchalant person. Like, pshhh. In conclusion, my big head and nonchalant personality (like, whatever) has resulted in a "preview-post" kind of thing. If my post were a movie, this would be the trailer. (SHBOOYEAH ANALOGIES.) Orange you glad?

1. This is from... a long time ago. It's been sitting on the desktop of the computer for quite some time. But I still enjoy staring at it. I want to eat her up and poop out her clothes and then wear them (after washing them of course.) On a more "normal" note, I also want more orange.

2. Luella S/S 2009. (RIP. sadface.) I want this colour palette. Just to indulge and eat and stare at and why am I continuously using "eat" to describe things I like? Maybe it has to do with orange and how you CAN, in fact, eat oranges... Or something of that similar logic...

3. NEW SHOES. Eeeeek. I love them. They dangerously border the appearance of duck feet. Fortunately, I stood beside a duck and was able to see the difference (well... I went to a zoo. And there COULD have been ducks... whereby I would have stood beside a duck... and WOULD habe seen the difference...). Therefore I will wear them and not feel the urge to quack except for sometimes. Quaaaaaaaack.

There you have it! A pretty pointless post on why you should not self-tan! YES. That's right. If you use self tanner, not only will you get pregnant and die (MEAN GIRLS REFERENCE BOO YEAH), but you will blend in with this amazing colour and, quite frankly, being pregnant/ dead/ orange is not ideal...

Oh yeah, and I do have a full outfit to go with these shoes. It will be posted shortly. ORANGE YOU GLAD? (best colour name EVER.)

P.S. Here's a hilarious joke:
Knock knock.
Who's there?
Banana.
Banana who?
Knock knock.
Who's there?
Banana.
Banana who?
Knock knock.
Who's there?
Banana.
Banana who?
Knock knock.
Who's there?
Orange.
Orange who?
ORANGE YOU GLAD I DIDN'T SAY BANANA? Chiiiing! Hahaha!

(That was the hilarious punchline. That was the chyme indicating the hilariousness. That was the laughter.
Duhhh.)

life as of late

How dramatic does this title sound? If I weren't me, I would think that I was going through a mid-life crisis, so rest assured that that is NOT the case. (Also, on a side note, does anyone ever feel awkward typing "that that" together? I feel like it's wrong. *re-reads last sentence* Nope, that make sense. WEIRD.) I guess it could have also been titled "The Accumulation of Things You May or May Not Care About," but that's a little, er, not as allusive as "Life as of Late." Consequently, "The Accumulation of Things You May or May Not Care About" will have to serve as the sub-title. The by-line, if you will. Okay, PHEW.

Moving on. Here's just some random things that I've been meaning to share. Oh, and just for fact, this is a SCHEDULED POST. Is this eerie OR WHAT?! I hope you say "yes." Because if you say "no," then this potentially means that this schedule post did not, in fact, post. SO IT'S SCARY. I'm like Casper the friendly ghost! Oooh... (That was supposed to mimic eerie apprehension. Just by the way.)

1. PLAYLIST.
I've been playing this 5.1 hour playlist all day, every day (almost literally) and I really like it. More summery and pumpy than the last and I guess that's appropriate as it's summer and it should, in fact, be summery and pumpy. So yay! Itunes also classified a good bulk of these artists/ songs as "singer/ songwriter." Which is fine and all. But it makes me feel like I'm 90 years old, so I think I'll invent a new genre entitled "unsaturated songs that should actually be popular." I'll post SOME of the songs. Check 'er out?

Crystalised - The xx
Small Things - The Audreys
You're Not Coming Home Tonight - First Aid Kit
Something Good Can Work - Two Door Cinema Club
Mango Tree - Angus & Julia Stone
How Low - Jose Gonzalez
Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others - The Smiths
All I Have To Do Is Dream - The Everly Brothers
Bedouin Song - Lior
Zorbing - Stornoway
I Was a Teenage Anarchist - Against Me!
Always Like This - Bombay Bicycle Club
If I Ever Feel Better - Phoenix
No Surprise - Lightspeed Champion
Kiss Off - Violent Femmes
To Be Surprised - Sondre Lerche
Foundations - Kate Nash
Do You Realize - the Flaming Lips
Here Comes Your man - The Pixies
In the Aeroplane Over the Sea - Neutral Milk Hotel

2. SHOUTOUTZ
These are some of my besties. Check out their blogs! For real!
The Trendy Dwarf - "I like unicorns and so do little girls!"
six-twentytwo-onine - "YEAH UNICORN"
Studded Dreams - "you should really do some more unicorns, ahem, i mean, vlogs! ;)"
Sui Generis - "Unicornz ftw!"
Lunacy Fringe - "Your vlog definitely was both explosive and quirky (not unlike a unicorn) and I enjoyed every second of it!"
Unicorn + Tee -"ahem, unicorn. ;)"
Soy Confessions - "omfg i dreamt of a unicorn last night."
Dawley Style - "It's rare to find someone so awesome. almost as rare as seeing a unicorn. (eh eh? nice right?" Ed note: So sneaky! Like... SPU KIDS!
A Grunge Fairytale - "Remember that episode where lizzie [mcguire] had a unicorn on her sweater for picture day??" Ed note: YES I TOTALLY REMEMBER THAT EPISODE. (you actually fooled me, I didn't even see unicorn at first haha.) But it was a hideous bright red sweater! And she was so grumpy in the episode! Haha. Aww. Memories.
Pandora's Closet - "you're hilarious, such a cute video (*cough*unicorn*cough)"
The Sweetest Escape - "oh oh oh unicorn! /i actually prefer Pegasus... oh well unicorn is cool too ;p"
Six Letter Daze - "No, that was not totally UNICORNS lame, I thought you were funny!"

ARE YOU CONFUSED?! Consider the following remedies 1) What's the common word between ALL these comments? or 2) Just check out the video. Towards the end. Phew.

3. PHOTOBOOTH NARCISSISM PUT TO USE.
First moleskin page of the summer! Done a few weeks ago. Don't know if you guys enjoy viewing these pages, but as I certainly hope so. Because they make up a handful of scheduled posts to come(by handful, I mean peace-fingers-full. By that, I mean two. GET IT?! Peace fingers = two. Ha-ha-ha. Okay Lexy, stop being so witty/clever/awesome. Kidding.)

Some sketches based off this random collage. Architectural city (cat) party as inspiration?

Some "BEFORE'S." You know? Like in magazines and (disturbing) makeover shows when they show that oh-so "ugly" BEFORE picture? Yeah? Yeah. Well, you'll see the "after" of these in posts to come! I've been hemming and altering like crazy.

USE YOUR IMAGINATION. WHAT COMES NEXT? Dun, dun, dun.

In conlusion, this was a kind of an irrelevant post. But, hey! I'm irrelevant! Oh wait, that's a bad thing. I'm relevant! I'm really relevant! I'm not making sense! Er...
1. What music are YOU listening to?
2. For those who wanted more vlogs, OF WHAT? What should I vlog about?

3. What would you like to see more or less of on da blog? Suggestions? Changes? Parties animals?

Won't be able to respond to blogs in awhile (but I can't predict the future MAYBE I WILL RESPOND. But probably not.) But I WILL when I can! Kisses from (hopefully) Guatemala! :)
P.S. The whole "Scheduled Posts" thing is rather daunting. And eerie.

Stuck without my camera cord.

Being the good little blogger I am, I have remembered to take (occasional) pictures of myself in my outfits, here in Alberta, to leave my amazing readers with a worthwhile post... Being the silly little girl I am, I have forgotten to bring my camera cord and thus will not be able to post them for another week and a half. Erm, sorry.

Buuuuut, I'm excited to have been tagged/ awarded by Magpie Girl, High Voltage, and theTrendyDwarf. Ch-ch-check 'em out! Not only do they have amazing blogs, but they're super supportive of mine. Thanks for the tags / awards you guys! :) There were two different tags where I'm supposed to share 7 things about me and 10 things that create my style. Since I am lazy - ahem - a busy girl with little time on my hand (haha), I am going to combine them and share 10 things about me and then post some style snidbits. It's a genius compromise, I know.

Combo Tag/ Award

7 - ahem - 10 Things About Me:
1. I watched Arthur way past the due-date of normalcy. But whatever, Arthur's da man.
2. I also played with dolls for way too long. Bratz was my last obsession, before finally graduating at the tender age of @#$%^& - way-too-old-to-be-playing-with-them.
3. My heart shaped glasses broke. I'm a little saddened by this news.
4. I'm an obsessive doodler. Obsessive. My greatest doodles are probably from science class, my least favourite class in the history of school.
5. I joined the wrestling team. I was one of two girls. I broke my collarbone after two weeks and therefore had to quit. I think I'll stick to volleyball next year.
6. I eat marshmallows and cookies a little too much.
7. Guilty pleasure = TLC shows. My current favourites are Cake Boss, LA Ink, and Say Yes to the Dress. I also love their documentaries. They are so fascinating and humbling. I really do love TLC.
8. I kind of like to pretend that Nylon is the epitome of who I am. Just because it's so darn cool.
9. I kind of live in my own ideal world. Where everyone dresses in vintage, listens to indie bands, and skips around instead of walking.
10. I wish Canada had an Obama-equivalent. Maybe an Asian-chick. She and Obama would make a good team, I think.

Style Snidbits:

1. Love the Olsen twins. Always have, always will.

2. Love the bright colours, shapes, and energy of the 80s. And now it's back in style!

Balmain Fall 2009

3. I actually think that being super cheap has totally helped to define my style. Favourite stores? Value Village, Vintage/Thrift, Winners, and H&M.

4. I like to read tabloids to look at red carpet photos. Some of my favourite red-carpet dressers are Rihanna, Charlize Theron, and Leighton Meester.

5. I dress to express myself. A lot of times it depends on my mood. If I'm feeling..
.. excited

.. rocker-y

.. cutsey

... dowdy

* Um, I am a major dork. Taking photobooth pictures of myself, by myself. Please ignore. I spent a whole five minutes taking them and thus do not want to not use them. I feel like I will regret this.

I kind of feel bad that my post is solely about myself and things that you readers don't really care about, so here's a really crappy photobooth picture of my new leggings. They are so amazing and the terrible quality does not do them justice. My $20 splurge on them was totally worth it. I promise to post better pictures soon.

(Urban Outfitters $20)

Anyways, I promise for a post you actually care about as soon as I return. I will attempt to take more pictures. Thanks for the awards guys, once again! :) And thanks for all your comments! I'm so happy to finally have a break from babysitting my little cousins so I can finally check out all your blogs! :) Come again and see you soon.

Ciao!
