Fictional high school lovers
Ballpoint black pen

Say Yes to the Dress taught me that High School Sweethearts actually do exist. (Yes, I watch Say Yes to the Dress! I'm not ashamed! Randy is way charming and I love him.) I totally didn't know that. About the High School Sweetheart thing, I mean. And actually existing. And all that fictional jazz... is not fictional? (That being said, I totally didn't know that the whole football/cheerleader thing actually happened in real life. Oh heyyy, small town small school!!!)

I'm actually quite cynical of young love. I have fond humorous memories of boys asking me to go to the daytime Middle School dances via MSN and I would be all, "um no thanx lol srry." I was totally on a high horse. Very, "ZOMG. Like, I'm nawt going to, like, MARRY him. Why would I want to go to a dance with him? Like, he might think I want marry him, like, zomg." My mindset hasn't changed all that much, but I'd like to think that my eloquence has, at very least, developed. We're young! We're free! We should all just be bestiezzzz and not worry about bfdramz! (Remember what I said about eloquence? ...Yeah. Maybe not.)

Consequently, it strikes me as wack when people have been together forever. By "forever," I mean since HIGH SCHOOL. (Basically the same thing.) It just seems ludicrous. People, surely, aren't the same during and post high school! People, surely, can't be in love with the same person for all that time! But it's also a very sweet. I never had a high school sweetheart. Boys these days are smelly and boring. Aw shucks!

Therefore, make me love love? Spill the beans about your high school sweetheart/ first love/ current love, YAY GO LOVE!!! LUV U ALL. xxooxoxoox

P.S. Prom post scheduled for tomorrow! Virtual pinky promise.

Immediately thought of the "got milk" commercials when I read the title here. Hahaha
I always thought the cheerleader/ football thingy was all fictional too. Perhaps it had to do with going to school in England where american football is not very popular?
I'm not personally familiar with the concept of high school sweethearts but I have seen "university sweethearts" go the long run and into marriage. I think the idea of love, not just as an emotion but as a way of life, can transcend age & time. But that's just me, the love lover speaking.

I thought I knew who I was going to marry when I was 15! I loved him probably more than I've ever loved anything, but it was the most unhealthy relationship of all time because I couldn't function without him. Long story short, it ended the day before our college classes started. Having that relationship throughout high school absolutely changed me, though. I look at love, life and EVERYTHING differently. It's one of those things that kind of destroys you to the point where the only place to go from there is up, so it ends up being a learning experience. Moral of the story: You were smart to never worry about the "bfdramz!"

You better be posting about prom tomorrow, miss thang. We're all waiting, you know. I'd totally dish some deets about my love or whatnot... but that has never happened. My prom date (and guy I thought was my friend) ended up ditching early to go on a real date. So, yeah... no first love stories here.

Well I am actually going out with my boyfriend that I had in high school still but it is good! Its not like we are 'high school sweethearts' and also not like I can't let go of high school or anything caaause I'm long goone from that, but hes just who I wanna be with :) so yes I think boyfriends/girlfriends that you had in high school still work after high school.

my brother and his girlfriend have been together since they were 14 and they're 25 now! crazytimes.
I had this boyfriend in my last year of high school and we got kind of sick of each other but stayed together because we had all these plans and tickets to stuff that we couldn't really cancel. so one day we were in sydney (I didn't live here back then) and some people from the national newspaper came up to us and randomly asked us all these questions about what people our age think of various things (can't even really remember what they were now). we thought they were asking lots of people and it would be like a tiny picture with one quote next to it among lots of others. it came out the next day and it was a FULL PAGE story with half the page taken up by this completely dorky photo of us sitting together on a park bench. the headline was 'The Kids Are Alright With The Future' (lame but kind of awesome that they used a Who reference). anyway the whole stupid point of this very long story is that the photo caption said 'High School Sweethearts Ali & ___' argh! we pretty much hated each other at that point! we only did the interview because we didn't want to talk to each other! it was so embarassing and pretty much everyone I know saw it all over the country.

Oh wow, I love your sketches. So.. well, quirky (:

Highschool sweetheart stuff rly doesn't go with me. Honestly, I do agree with you. People change way too much after high school. And.. well, maybe some ppl do strike gold and find their One, but I've never seen that happen. I don't believe marriage is that paradise we all want to find... Marriage can be cruel, one-sided, and authoritative, and tyrannical. Or maybe I've just been reading too much Sylvia Plath..

But I do believe in true love... Am I a hypocrite? I don't believe in a perfect marriage but I believe in true love? I'm still a dreamer at heart. I believe I can find somebody I'll love to an extent that surpasses even my expectations. But marriage... right now, maybe I'm just biased. My parents have shown me that marriage can be a bad thing.

Anyway, uhhh tel me about your loves, Lexy :P I think I've spilled my guts on a few guys on my blog, but now.. I don't anymore. It's embarrassing to read i guess.

Oh I sent you an email!!! Please read it (;

I'm still a senior in high school, so I can't really say if I believe in high school sweethearts and all that stuff. But I am crossing my fingers that if I find the right guy, he'll be my one and only. ONE AND ONLY.

Can't wait for your prom post! :)

Your pictures are heaps cuteee! Although it sucks that the chick's teeth are still uneven despite having braces looool <3

Hmm. I had a high school sweetheart for quite a long time ? Three years approx. Although, it ended at the start of Uni because he had to move to another state to study. And it's like a 3 day car trip or 1 expensive flight. Long story short, we fought a lot cos of the lack of communication and the big change from seeing each other every day to only seeing each other on webcam every once in awhile. I'd like to think that it might have worked out if he had stayed here but everyone changes and such.

But I am happyhappy with my current boyfriend now so it's all good ! Cos if a door hadn't had closed, a new one would not have opened :D

you're sketches are so sweet and sort of remind me to collages from Up Disney movie :)

my first love was weird.. LOL
as I didn't realized I was in love (i just said yes cause I was curious what it feels like to have a boyfriend) until I broke up with him and it suddenly hit me that you don't really have that much people that really really connects with you, and truly understand you inside out, you know (I'm rambling)
the good thing is, we still friends! ;)

would love to know your 1st love story as well!

I'm still dating my high school boyfriend (next year we graduate from college!)! But maybe that's just because we were like super mature for our age. who knows. ;)

Ohemggeeee. Young love. I remember when my high school boyfriend said something about our wedding and getting married. I looked at him and said, totally straight-faced, "We aren't getting married." He looked shocked, and was all, "What the hell???" I was like, "Are you kidding? We are in high school. We have an expiration date."
I think I broke his heart.
It was kind of awesome.
I believe in high school sweethearts and young love. I think that some couples can really make it work and live happily ever after.
We were not one of those couples.
Obviously.

What a cool idea to portray through drawing! You've got a lot of creativity and skill. :)

My story is similar to Bonnie's. I had a boyfriend in high school who totally thought I was the one. I just kinda looked at him one day and said, "I don't want to marry you. I just agreed to go to prom with you" ... not exactly the same thing. ;)

I'm 23 and dating/living with my high school sweetheart - but the kicker is that before all of that moving-in-together stuff happened, we hadn't spoken for five years! We broke up when I was seventeen, and then started talking again about a year ago. We both grew up a lot during that time apart, dated other people, and weren't really looking for anything serious when we met again. I'm glad that we had that time apart - it makes me appreciate him more!

OMG, why are you so talented?! Those drawings are AWESOME. AWE-SOME. How long did it take you to do those, really? I'm so distracted. God.
