I had a lot of fun wearing this outfit. The sun was all shiny and happy and insert cheesy sunny-related quotes. Consequentially, it was a definite cause for some celebratory "Spring is almost here" attire! (Which is evidently a far stretch from the truth. Hello, >life-size snow banks. Hello, blowing winds. Hello, Canada.)

It's certainly fun to stack accessories. I've gotten emails asking about easing into colours and that's what I would say: If you're not in the mood to make people vomit rainbows and poop more rainbows (awesome visual), simply wear some good old fashion obnoxiously large/ridiculous/colourful accessories. Maybe some colourful tights for good measure. Also, just HAVE FUN WITH FASHION. Like the rest of life, it's nothing to take too seriously. You meet people that are just continuously complaining and frowning and it's like, Hey kid! Wear a hideously fluorescent orange blazer once in a while! Just for the hell of it!

Oh, and in case you were deceived by these, er, "artsy photos" taken outside of my garage to, um, "juxtapose grunge aspects with prep" (the quotes are to signify my "je ne sais quoi" and evident "artsyness" with my "abstract concepts"), HI THERE. Snow exists. Don't be deceived by the allusions of Spring.

I've been feeling really ridiculously optimistic this past while. I'm crazy busy, but I'm happy. My life is definitely not perfect, but it's like, hey, don't stress it. There's so many little things I worry about but, in the big picture: there's 7 billion+ people in this world, there's been billions before me, billions after me, HI THERE I'M INSIGNIFICANT. My problems are hardly problems and I'm one insanely lucky chicka. No, I don't ever say "chicka." (Although that, oddly enough, reminds me of my childhood favourite Chickadee. I secretly only subscribed because I deemed the jokes "hilarious," i.e. that was the only section I read. Hey now, I didn't grow up in an internet era where jokes were at my disposal - I had to werrrk for it!) (i.e. force my parents to pay for my monthly subscription to said magazine.)

Stay wonderful and smile at strangers!
I dare you all to wear five colours in ONE outfit this week.
Get yourself out of the winter bum. And make me feel good about myself for, ahem, "inspiring you." And then POST YOUR OUTFIT. It would legitimately make my long winter days. xx
Also, how do you picture your funeral?
(colours and funerals go... hand in hand? I don't know. I've been thinking about this recently, and I'm hoping funeral-thoughts are just one of those "things" that everyone secretly thinks about. PLEASE PRETEND.)

I really really love this outfit.

And that dare? consider it DONE. :) maybe even five days per outfit, five days straight.

funerals? I hope people wear colors to my funeral. I don't want my death to be depressing. No all-black outfits. Unless it's black sequins. :)
(see? colors and funerals are totally related)

I can't stand the way hard boiled eggs smell.

I need a friend who will take pictures of me for me.

I want "In My Defense" by Freddie Mercury to play at my funeral. I guess I hadn't thought about it beyond that.

Holy moly I love this outfit! Those shoes are yum, and those colors look amazing on you. You inspire me to thrift shop. Seriously.

AND... I picture my funeral with lots of cupcakes and in my will I'm going to tell people they have to wear a bright color. Like I want my husband to be wearing a magenta suit or something ridiculous like that. I'll be in heaven, so I want it to be a celebration! xo

Seriously Lexy, I wish that you would submit your photographs to Teen Vogue. In my opinion, they are ready to hit the pages of the magazine. Everything is perfect - your style, your movements/expressions...the world needs to meet you via glamorous glossies!! :)

"there's 7 billion+ people in this world, there's been billions before me, billions after me, HI THERE I'M INSIGNIFICANT."

It's really interesting that that doesn't bother you; I've found that it bothers most. It also makes me think of The Bell Jar; Plath writes something about how the billions of people before and after her make her insignificant, and she hates it.

ANYWAY, I love the colors going on here. And, by the way, you are a fantastic writer. Thank you for putting your commas in all the right places! :)

These photos are really gorgeous. I like the blue shadows reflected on to the white garage door and your action poses. Have added myself as a follower.

LadyNansei said...

Before I say (write) anything I have to say I hate hard boiled eggs too, they smell and taste horrible.

I'm definately going to take you up in the challenge the next time I go outside and dont have to wear a uniform (I dont get out much appart from school and work)

And I can picture my funeral with everyone wearing black, standing at a grave and weeping, like they should because it's me, obviously, and making their speeches and more weeping. Yeah, that would be cool and pretty original. Maybe my funeral should be on top of a volcano like what I want my wedding to be like...

LadyNansei said...

AND I really like your outfit and how ***colourful*** it is, especially in amongst the snow.
If I ever had a fashion crisis I'll definately go to YOU for advice :D
