i wanna be a rock stahhhh.

I'll let you in on a little secret: sometimes after I get ready in the morning, I pretend that I'm so fly and glamorous, living in NYC. I'm about to rock Fashion Night Out, and hang out with the likes of Alexander Wang. I'm about to dance down Times Square and flourish in the city lights. I'm about to have my photograph taking for the Sartorialist! And then ... I remember that all I'm doing today is having brunch with the family and tackling an english essay and math assignment. Please don't tell me that I'm the only one that does this!

I always feel so cool wearing homemade clothes. I hope it's not a sign that I'm an egomaniac, or anything..

I'm always wrapped up in my own bubble when class gets boring (which is, like, all the time!). I pretty much always pretend that I'm in NYC. Sometimes high school seems petty, which is probably a really rich statement for a high school student to say. But I think that it's just that I'm really excited for the future! There's so much that I want to do with my life!

For all you fashionista friends out there, what crazy dreams do you have? Anything that has to do with this crazy industry called "fashion"? I'm really interested in what kind of dreamers you guys are! :) Thanks for stopping by!

in the jungle, the mighty jungle...

Dress down day! What beautiful words. Wore this on dress down day, AKA I didn't have to wear my uniform. Whilst getting ready in the morning, I was solely looking at my jeans and shorts, because I decided that I didn't want to stick out like a sore thumb. For "fun" I decided to try on my purple skirt.. and then my cheetah tights! I was seriously not going to wear this because, literally, everyone wears a) leggings + long tee, b) jeans + tee, or c) uniform because they forgot. But then I thought, "screw them!" I marched down the halls, loud and proud. I'm the king of the jungle! (Haha, I feel like I should reference something, but I don't know what.) So if anyone actually reads this, the moral of the story is wear what you want and don't care about what other people think. (I'm so amazingly cheesy.)

I don't usually have direct inspiration from my outfits, but I couldn't resist trying this whole double print thing after checking it out on Wendy's blog.

Question: why is it always cheetah print? Why not leopard? How discriminatory!

Speaking of leopards, Hallowe'en is soon (you know, because people dress up as leopards for Hallowe'en and.. um.. anyways..) I went to Value Village today to go Hallowe'en costume shopping and I was so uninspired! I hate the generic $30 costumes (what a rip off!) so I didn't get one. But, I don't know what to be. I'm actually really excited for Hallowe'en because I finally recruited someone - after two years! - who is willing to go Trick-or-Treating with me. Um, party or free candy? I say free candy!

Anyways, I'm pretty big on Hallowe'en because I love to dress up. Mean Girls says that Hallowe'en is a chance for girls to dress slutty, but I say it's a chance for us to dress up in crazy costumes! (Last year I was a fat chicken. I was pretty pleased with myself.)

So, What are you being for Hallowe'en? What should I be for Hallow'een?! I'm desperately seeking for ideas!

Double Trouble!

While I undoubtedly love the crisp leaves of fall, I find that I'm still holding onto the brightness and the summeryness (?) that summer brings. I'm pretty sure that my bright colours will still make its way into my fall wardrobe...

I keep on seeing this "two-tone" tight trend on blogs. But I haven't actually grabbed myself a pair seeing that the only one I could find was at a very reasonable (ahem) price of $50. Okay. Yeah. So I cheated. Layered tights... Except I didn't layer one side. Ah, I'm so sneaky.. (Um, this actually derived from the fact that I was too lazy to put it on the other side after I decided it looked remotely cool. But, shh...)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I also decided to layer cardigans. Because I'm cool like that...

(Blue Cardigan - Value Village $7, Daisy Cardigan - Winners/ Mum's, Belt - Pacific Mall $10, Skirt - Homemade, Tights - both from H&M, Shoes - Keds)

Even though I am happily adapting my summery wardrobe into fall, I really wouldn't mind grabbing a few new things. I'm thinking that I'm going to need an alternative to skirts/ shorts + tights (my current wardrobe), and opt. for something a little bit more warm! Hmm, jeans? Leggings? Man pants? I'll have to see what I can pick up via Value Village (aka my clothing bible.)

And thanks so much for everyone who has come by and commented! I get so excited when I see that the little comment number at the bottom of my post has increased! Um, come to think of it, I'm kind of a huge dork about it but, um, anyways... More importantly, I will return comments this weekend! Tata for now!

What's on your fall shopping list?

all that glitters is not gold

Do you ever crave things? I'm sure you do. My mum craves chocolates almost literally all the time, which she uses as an excuse to steal my chocolates! *tsk tsk, Mum* I've been craving going to Value Village. But I'm a little skeptical about going until after Halloween. This is as normal people besides elderly actually begin to shop at Value Village for Halloween costumes, and I'll feel like a major dork shopping for real! Haha. But, I will see..

Anyways, I almost missed buying this ridiculously ________ (fill in the adjective) blazer. I came out of the dressing rooms of Value Village with my usual mountain of clothes when, out of the corner of my eye, I spotted this _______ (fill in the adjective) blazer. I could not resist trying it on... and the rest is history! (Ha-ha.)

It was also an overall kind of day. You know - despite their unflattering shape - I'm really into these overalls, which I've had for years. They're so childish. I don't think I'll be able to wear them in a few years, but for now, I really don't care if I look like a 5-year-old!

The downside of this outfit? a) the blazer's itchy b) it's hard to pee - I had to take off all my bracelets, my blazer, and then my overalls to use the toilet. (I hope that not too much information!) Ohh *sighhh*, the things we do for fashion!

Thanks for stopping by and commenting! I'm so excited to have reached the 100 follower mark! (I hope someone doesn't stop following, then I'll feel like a major dweeb. Haha) But thanks, everyone! I'll visit all your blogs soon!

Um, also... How old are you?
Okay, so I know you're not supposed to ask this, but I'm curious to know what age my readers are. So, yeah, I'm not a creep or anything...

i like to ride my biiiiiicycleeee, i liiike to ride it noww...

Edit: I just realized I got the lyrics of my title wrong. Haha, embarrassing. I mean... I totally meant that.. you know, I.. never mind. Just continue...

I don't know about you guys, but I will (grudgingly) admit that the weather where I live sucks. It's been raining daily. Even hailed. But, today, I woke up and saw "sun" (i.e. no clouds)! I was so excited. Obviously, this meant a day filled with bright colours and bike rides! Okay, even though I still had to wear tights and a blazer... The point is, sun, I'm sorry I used to wish for your disappearance. I long for the heat that you brought... (Why is my relationship with the sun so indecisive?) But I'm still loving fall!

I get an uncountable amount of stares when I go biking. It's pretty humorous and enjoyable. I love to go downtown and just people watch. There's a lot of sketchy - ahem - interesting people downtown. I love it.

^ Is it incredibly dorky to say that I'm proud of that picture? My jumping shot? It's Facebook display worthy, except I feel like that would make me look really narcissistic. But, you know, in theory...

Also, I think that it's totally amazing that you guys have made puffy skirts. I'm seriously shocked and stoked. My sib (ling) wore one that I made her today, so I thought I'd do some harmless marketing.

Please imagine an informercial voice: Do you love puffs? Do you love skirts? If so, make your own puffy skirt! Only with Girl with the Bow Tie does this offer apply... (yadda, yadda. I'm such a nerd!)

Hope you guys have a fabulous - and possibly sun filled? - weekend! For all you Canadians, happy Thanksgiving! I'm thankful for lots of things this year - family, friends, education, food, travel, creativity, sunshine, and life. And that people actually read my blog! Har-har, I'm filled with thanks!

What things are you thankful for?
(I know this question is mainly directed to Canadian bloggers - Gooo Canada! - but I'd love to hear anyone's list!)

Sunday, fun-day

I don't think I have a "style." I'm a heavy believer in the idea that fashion should be fun. I like wearing whatever, whenever, however... I don't think I could limit myself to a certain "style" - I just like wearing whatever I want! I think people take fashion too seriously sometimes. Just have fun!

But, I do think that this outfit is probably more subdued compared to my normal outfits. I woke up and felt like wearing these tights.. and then threw on everything else. Lazy Sundays, my friends, lazy Sundays...

I love these tights. Despite the fact they always invoke weird looks by others. Or maybe that's why I love them...

Thanks for coming! And for all the comments; they were super sweet, and I will post more of my "art" soon! Until next time...

...Byeeee!
NOTE: I was supposed to be waving, but now I realize that I look as though I think I'm the Queen or something... maybe I am...

Um, anyways. Thanks for coming! I will visit all your blogs this weekend; things are busy during the week! Au revoir, mes amis!
How would you describe your style?

Artsy, fartsy, what's this party?

I have this weird need to talk about "awkwardness" in this post. Which is, in itself, a very awkward topic. I don't even know where this need derived from. I guess I've been having an awkward day. Do you ever have those? Like, when you just feel.. awkward?

*Awkward Pause*

Um, anyways, now that that's over with - I'm sorry I haven't been able to post! I would have loved to, but I don't have anything to post! *Evil glare at uniform* I'm kind of at loss of what to be posting besides outfit posts, and I thought I'd experiment by posting "art". (This isn't really what I'd qualify as art. Just summer projects..) So... enjoy? :)

1. I'm such a humanitarian that I joined the Human Rights Committee. Haha. But really. I'm pretty excited and we started watching a movie called "Darfur Now" which is really shocking and it really got me thinking. I did this "piece of 'art'"in the summer, but I might do more like this out of inspiration...

2. Flipping through old magazines. I was inspired.

Skin and bones is really attractive.. no?

3. Current project that I'm working on. It's a definite WIP (Work in Process, come on people! Get with the abbreviations!). It's based off the idea of "Go!" and following your dreams and so forth. I'm really excited about it and I'll give you more details about the actual project soon enough!

Work in Progress

So, I realize that this is a fashion blog and that my amateur "art" (those quotations are really, very, necessary) is probably not all that exciting!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

But it's something that I enjoy! And if you, you know, had mild enjoyment scrolling through these three projects, then I'll happily post more of my other projects that I did this summer. Just say so!

Outfit posts, very soon, I hope! *fingers crossed*

What are your favourite hobbies? And, do you have any other ideas for my blog? I'm a little desperate, my friends! Oh, and I was serious when I was asking, do you ever just feel... awkward? Questions galore! I'm curious!
