10.4.10

yes i eat marshmallows by itself. pffft to unhealthiness.

Hiiii friends. Good news: the weather is back in business. Why is this good? Well, not only does it benefit me and my fellow Southern Ontario-anzzz because who likes bad weather anyways? But also all of YOU guys. Why? Because nadda ranting on the weather today. (and trust me, I had this huge, why did it start SNOWING after a few days of nice weather and um OH YEAH it's APRIL grrrrr you, Canada rant planned. Because YES that really did happen. SNOW, that is.) But amen, for sun today!

Oh and here's an outfit from last week because I know you don't want to hear me be all Canadian weather ranty, but unless your weather changes more than um ______ (insert something clever that changes. I actually thought about this but NOTHING came up.) than HAH. I win. Um, so where were we now? Ah, yes. Outfit from awhile back. It was one of those dress down days at school, so score for no uniform!

Dress down days are funny days. Because even though people don't have to wear a uniform, it appears that there's this underlying high school student uniform of leggings/ skinny jeans/ tees/ scarfs/ uggs/ slouchy boots/ simple flats etc, etc, that's been adopted by everyone. But the funny thing is, I don't mind it that much. It used to drive me insane, but it's kind of fun to look all SHBAM in a sea of conformity.

High school, and I guess life in general, is a funny place. There's so much conformity that it drives me insane. But it's so much easier to follow than to lead, is it not? And by "lead," I mean, go against the grain?

I don't know, I used to be all "blah blah blah I'm up on my high horse, you little high school people, because I know what I want and I have dreams and morals and heart and blah blah" (wow, I was an internally annoying grade niner (because we don't so freshman here (though I think it sounds better in this given sentence))) but I think that if you have time to learn from other people, everyone really IS very different. It's just harder for people to express they're differences. Because sometimes being different = being alone and GOD FORBID IN HIGH SCHOOL.

Anyways, not to imply that I'm a super weirdo or loner or anything, just some high school thoughts I've noticed. And, ultimately, I'm ecstatic to leave in a year or so...

How did you guys like / how are you guys enjoying high school?

(By the way, I realize I sound like some super antsy, drama queen teen but, um, I guess I can use the excuse of "mwaha but I'm onlyyyy in high school" *insert squeaky voice and whine and annoying text message to friend of omggggfml*)

Don't worry, I love my life, I really do. But sometimes it's just frustrating to want to do things, but you feel restrictions because of school, and like, other things, like, you know, yeahhh...

:)
(I needed to add a happy face because MAN I feel like a whiny teenager and that is simply unfortunate. I'm naaawwwwwwwtttt, guyyyyyss.)

Okay, wow what a relevant post, as I shall be graduating highschool in ~2 months! AND THIS IS THE TIME TO REFLECT BACK.

Kay, my first year was TERRIBLE.
Hands down the worst year of my life.
I was a socially awkward, SUPER quiet individual who wasn't adjusting well to the change. I only had this one friend from elementary school who became a horrible one to me in the eighth grade. I also (still) wore weird clothes that none of the other American-Eagle-conformists could comprehend.

Then, in grade 9, I had the chance to start fresh because a new school was built nearby and a whole bunch of people left for that school and more new people came to ours. This was an okay year, I met some people, but it was mostly by the end of the year.

In grade 10, gradually my circle of friends was being established and I had a a lot of fun that year--and that summer.

In grade 11, OMGHOLYFREAKINGSHITTSICLES!!! IT WAS THE BEST YEAR OF MY LIFE!!!!!!!!
I found out who my "real" friends were lol and we became known as The Clan. I was still socially awkward but no longer quiet. Actually, it's weird, that year, my personality took a 180 degree turn, LIKE WOW.
IT WAS AMAZING!!!

This year, I have the most self-confidence I've ever had and now I'm known by my peers AND teachers, etc. for my "different" sense of style. I swear to you, everyone in my school wears hoodies, sweats, jeans, etc. etc. so I most definitely "stick" out. And I'm actually GLAD everyone dresses the same because I LOVE to be the center of attention. Lol, conceited it seems, but true. The only thing I didn't like about grade 12 were the academics = HELL. But my friends = LOVES OF MY LIFE.

Although I'm sad to graduate I'm also ready for university next year--AHHH!
AND excited for all the grad stuff. :D

OKAY WOW, THAT WAS WORDY. But thanks for asking this Q, it was nice to reminisce.

++cute outfit durrrrrh!

I hear ya about the weather. Yesterday, Alberta just went APESHIT and I couldn't leave my house. :( Canada is awesome, minus the climate. Grr.

I feel the same way about high school. Ugh. God forbid someone have their own opinions and sense of style! :O I'm glad I'm graduating in 2 months. Uni, here I come!! (Hot new boys, here I come!!)

HAHA I hate high school! Well most of the time. I agree with your views on it, but I've managed to find a group of friends that are WAY different from the rest of the school so I don't go insane :]

Your mosaic-like shirt is lovely! x

I was in an independent study program for high school, so I didn't actually physically attend. I stayed home and taught myself. I was already freelancing when I was in high school, and that program gave me the flexibility I needed to complete work projects, and school simultaneously.

Ohmigosh I love the color in your ensemble!! :)

Aaah - things that happen in High School become utterly insignificant as soon as you leave. I wish I was brave enough to stand out like you do when I was your age. I'm just learning now that you don't HAVE to wear jeans every day - style is about taking risks and you do that, and pull them off!

I love all the colourful clothes you wear. So fabulous!
I agree, the weather in Canada is so weird! But gorgeous day today, eh? All sunny, and tomorrow is supposed to be sunny too. :)

I'm rather indifferent about high school. I just see it as being there, nothing really special. I mean, I did make some really awesome friends, but there were so many stupid cheesy teenager moments. Blah! University is much better. BUt life without going through high school would be weird.

you know what's ironic? i was one of the popular kids but also felt out of place at the same time...i was just too different from the other kids..and it was only good that they did not attempt to understand me.

but over time, i learned that everyone is different...and while i'm blessed with the ability to express my mind (and feelings), others have their own way of expressing themselves too...sometimes, not in the way i can understand (and i'm sure it's how they feel about me)...

i'm just thankful that i have friends and family who love and accept me for who i am..

looove the colours in your outfit! I still have to wear school uniform, which sucks, and my school is really strict on the clothes we wear-i'm not even allowed to wear hairbands if they are not school colours! but i do anyway, because i am a rebel like that ;)

great post :)

I really loved high school. and not like, those people that complain all the way through and then a few years after they leave realise it actually wasn't that bad, I even loved it at the time.
and I always found no-uniform days funny because you're right, everyone would look the same anyway! people were terrified of looking like they'd made too much effort.

Ahaha, you make me laugh. I love being the leader, however, I have no idea where I am leading my peers or whether I really want to, can't everyone just be like me so I don't have to lead at all?
