calling all TORONTONIANS!

Hello fanciful creatures of the internet!

I hope you're all being marvelous and chipper and what not. I'm super chipper. Why? Because it's thundering outside and I just LOVE IT. It ruined a bit of today's plans, but now I'm just curled up on the computer and knitting indoors (seriously. I am an old lady. All I need is 24 cats and I'm set.), so I'm feeling dapper. Just so you know.

Anyways, I was inspired to post these pictures because they were taken on a rainy day and today is a rainy day! EEK CHECK OUT THAT CRAZY COINCIDENCE! SO COOL! Not really. But I really love these pictures and have been kind of hoarding on them. I don't even know if that sentence makes sense, but yeah. I hope you enjoy their presence, as well!

Now, I'm not usually directly inspired or influenced by people or pictures when I'm getting ready. It's generally based on whim of my mood/ the weather/ life. But bam! Fay Leshner proved me wrong. One of her quotes that really resonated with me went along the lines of, "People say I don't wear black and white. No. I make black and white look like colour." When I heard that, I was like DANNNG GURL. Such an interesting concept! But then I was like I WANT TO TRY IT. So I did. Ever thought you'd see Lexy in (almost) head-to-toe-black-and-white? Me neither.

Now, these photos were taken awhile ago. (CUHLEARLY. Inside joke between myself and those inhabited in Southern Ontario. What would happen if I wore this outfit out these days? I WOULD MELT ITS SEW HAWT I WANT FALL!!!! lolzkatz. but really.) But I do remember the day I wore it. I went to Ikea with the mum and the sibling. As I got out of the car, I noticed my sister was walking away from me. I walked towards her. She walked faster. I walked faster. She walked faster. "Are you embarrassed by my outfit?" I inquired. "Not gonna lie," she replied, turning around ever so slightly, "Yes." I thought it was hilarious and made it my goal to smother her with a loving hug. It was a really beautiful moment of pure sisterly love.

(In my sister's defense, I really don't blame her. I'm kind of vibing the likes of optical illusion. or monochromatic throw-up...)

By the way... Do you read my blog? Do you live in Toronto? If so, give me a SHOUT! Sorry. I was channeling "The Infomercial" in my writing style. But I decided to stop. Because it's lame. And kind of creepy. The point is, Hi friends! I've kind of spontaneously decided to stop by Toronto for the week! Yeah! I'm living with my grandparents and job hunting for the week. I'm a little nervous, but also excited. I would love to meet any one of you! (PLEASE I AM BEGGING I NEED FRIENDS YOUNGER THAN SEVENTY YEARS OLD) If you inhabit in Tdot or nearby, please send me an email - lexyht[at]hotmail[dot]com. I'd love meet up! I am friendly and easy going and... wow. I sound like I'm on a dating website. I think I should stop now.*

*I am not this creepy in real life. I assure you. Despite the fact that I am wearing creepers. (HAHAH. Sorry. I thought that was witty and maybe even laughed out loud at my seeming wittiness. Just maybe.) Also, ignore my creepy pose below. It's not there. Your eyes are playing tricks.

LOVE THE OUTFIT!!!!

I did something similar where I was all black and white spots and stripes and it was one of my favourite outfits ever. I am always so tempted to give in and wear it all again but I think that it would ruin it to overdo it.

Generally I have a fairly similar outlook to you. I wake up and say 'hey! I want to wear yellow, red and leopard today!' and then I do. Every so often though, I might watch something on tv and be like 'Buffy season 1? That is my new goal in life'. =]

The gloves are frickin' amazeballzzzz btw.

Also, if it makes you feel better, one of my younger sisters refuses to let people know we're related. Like, she wouldn't let on she knew me if we were in town at the same time =]

hahaha it's so funny that your sister didn't wanna be seen with you! i love this concept that black and white can be bright and bold colours, although you've definitely added your quirky explosion via accessories, your gloves are absolutely amazing. love them!:) xxx

Love the play with polka dots. Very clever. You definitely made black and white colorful. Gotta try that one day.

Ahhhhh I love this outfit! It's so cute and unique (as in, a good unique of course!). The tights are definitely my favorite. I lovelovelove it!

Awh, I live a couple hours away from Toronto (on the US side), but I'm away this week or else I'd totally come and hang!

Sabina said...

Hey you're right. That is a cool quote. And, as you've done here, one can add "color" to b/w outfits. It's all in how you put things together.

Cool houndstooth suit by the way. I'm a big fan of that pattern. To me it feels somewhat Gwen Stefani-ish.

Sorry I don't live on Toronto, chickie. More like 12 hours away! :-/

ummm, just saying this is quite marvleously amazing. the polka dots + creepers and more dots is just so cool. although not bright colours you still radiate the quirkiness. that quote is so though-provoking and twisting words inside out to new extremes.

That's a really interesting quote. I think you nailed it! It's so fun :)

Lookin' good lady!

I love that outfit, actually, because I only wear black and white (and blue, but that's irelevant). Although I don't where it like THAT (just because I don't have clothes like THAT). Just a white T (shirt) and black jeans...

Anywho, I loved the random throw of colours (and the shoes).

Also, you like thunderstorms? I only like thunderstorms when I'm way away from them and watching from the safety of my, very dry, home and on TV.
Also, I had a thing about not using any electrical equipment during a storm. Because I’m paranoid that I will hurt my electrical equipment (PlayStation! Computer! Laptoppy!)

What inspires my outfits? English. Ties and top hats ;)

My mood influences my outfits mostly! If I'm happy, I wear bright colours and patterns, I'm if shy, I wear hoodies and jeans.
I wish I could fly over to Toronto and hang with you...that would be awesome! But impossible. :(
P.S Love the tights.

Amazing outfit. You DO manage to make monochrome look like an array of colours - it's freaky.. but in a good way. And those gloves are frightfully fabulous.

My outfits are inspired by the books I read and the music I listen to and the films I watch. But most of thast influence is subconscious. And that's just how I like it.

Oh this was so fun to look at :) Cheered me up and gave me lots of smiles! You did wear black and white like a colour...I want to try this now...

I find a lot of inspiration just from looking through random vintage photos from centuries and eras...anything that just gives me a colour or shape or image to imiatate.

A lot of times I'll get inspired by poetry too, weirdly enough! That's why I title all my posts with lines from poems (although they aren't meant to correspond to the outfits...I should try that!).
